The Heroine’s Journey of Amina la Cleatrice

What is the best thing that I love about my work?

I created a brand of high-end jewelry full of symbols.

As I up-cycle old keys by plating precious metals to make unique and authentic pieces, I traveled for one year throughout France to buy keys from centuries spent with antique dealers.

I love learning new things. And discovering the history of the keys, those who opened hat boxes, travel trunks, jewelry boxes, etc. is a great part of my work.

Learning about precious metals from specialists in fine jewelry is also exciting.

What is my idea of perfect happiness?

Feeling in security and being in good health.

What is my greatest fear?

To die young and leave my daughter without her mum. I have so many things to show her, to teach her, to discover with her.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?

I’m too much a perfectionist. Actually, I often experience moments of dissatisfaction, because naturally my expectations are beyond my capacities and beyond those of my entourage.

Which living persons in my profession do I most admire?

I admire people who create with passion; the photographers, the painters, the jewelers, etc. Some are famous; most of those of whom I think are not famous.

They all have in common the faith, the light, the patience and the dignity.

What is my greatest extravagance?

In the age of internet, I work enormously with notebooks. I write everything. I have a notebook for each project and I have two paper calendars.

On what occasion would I lie?

I could lie to save lives, to avoid danger.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

Spending time in front of my computer. I prefer physical contact and real encounters.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?

Once, a man ordered two key jewels: the key of love and the key of birth. I was extremely touched by this online order.

If I could, what would I change about myself?

With time and personal development, I have learned to love myself, to accept myself as I am.

But if I had to change something in myself, it would be to accept the unfortunate events as they are. Because not accepting them loses energy that I could devote to something else.

What is my greatest achievement in work?

Having customers in the United States 🙂

Where would I most like to live?

In a country where ecology has its place as well as education, health and well-being. In a non-corrupted nation, and not run by multinationals.

What is my most treasured possession?

My freedom of thought.

What are your favorite books?

I have read thousands of books in my life.

Each one is a piece of my life’s puzzle.

Biographies and autobiographies inspired me a lot.

Who are my favorite writers?

Guy de Maupassant, Roald Dahl, Khalil Gibran and so many others.

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?

Maria Callas singing Puccini’s Mrs Butterfly

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?

Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Pierre Rabhi

Whom would I like to work with in 2017?

I would love to work with Michelle Obama 🙂

Which people in my profession would I love to meet in 2017?

I would love to meet Oprah Winfrey 🙂

What project, in 2017, am I looking forward to work on?

Apart from a new collection of key jewels in limited series, my husband and I are trying to give back the 800 lovelocks rescued from Pont des Arts before Paris city hall has taken them off the bridge in 2015.

More particularly we would like to give back a special lovelock on which is engraved “Michelle & Barack”… if you see what I mean? 😉

You can see the video of this special lovelock on:

Where can you see me or my work in 2017?

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?

I like its translation into French “la passion ne prend jamais sa retraite” 🙂

To me, it means that as long as you work with your guts, nothing can stop you.

Which creative heroines should Peter invite to tell their story?

I would like Fabienne Neveux to tell her story. She works passionately for her company COLUNCH
