What is the best thing that I love about my work? I love networking with other artists and to inspire each other/ exchanging an art critique about the work to progress. Challenging myself during the process of painting and researching characters.
Relying on my dreams in my arts practice and following my intuition. I love being creative in many areas it is highly satisfying to me. I love the freedom to create!
What is my idea of perfect happiness? Living on an island like Rarotonga, where time does not matter and no pressure is present, enjoying the nights with the phases of the moon in harmony by the sea and being able to retreat and work on my art when I feel like it, day or night without interruptions.
What is my greatest fear? My greatest fear is if my children would be passing before me. This would be the worst experience ever! I don’t think I would recover of such loss!!!
What is the trait I most deplore in myself? Being fleeting.
Which living persons in my profession do I most admire? I admire artists who have contributed to a big change in art history and/or are controversial, especially female artists and musicians, to name a few: Pipilotti Rist, Pussy Riot, Nina Hagen, PJ Harvey, Coco Rosie
What is the greatest extravagance? I grant myself various massages on a regular basis, I love that kind of body work and cannot get enough of it
On what occasion would I lie? Not to unsettle someone or hurt them too much
What is the thing I most dislike in my work? Having to promote myself as an artist, I am a bit too relaxed on that for that
When and where was I the happiest, in my work? Doing the art performance called “Intellectual Low Tech Intercourse” with the Ergo collective
If I could, what would I change about myself? I would like to have the mind of a business woman to promote my work as an artist appropriately
What is my greatest achievement in work? Having shown my work digitally at Times Square NY and Scope Art Fair in Miami
Where would I most like to live? I would love to live in Rarotonga, Bali and New Zealand on certain times of the year, kind of being a global gypsy, having a studio set up on each location to work until I die!
What is my most treasured possession? My art supplies, music, books and artworks
What is my most marked characteristic? Independent, free, loving, intuitive and cruisy
What is my most inspirational location in my city? In the forest or by the sea
What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city? Alleluya Bar and Café St.Kevin’s Arcade Auckland city
What books influence my life and how? Fictional and non-fictional stories about women and art books
Who are my favourite writers? Stieg Larsson’s Trilogy Millennium, “the girl with the dragon tattoo”, “the girl who played with fire” and “the girl who kicked the hornet’s nest” was the trigger to paint portraiture of controversial female characters in real life and the fictional world. I also enjoy reading biographies about strong women written by all kind of female writers.
You only die once. What music would I listen on my last day? Boards of Canada the album “Tomorrow’s Harvest”
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? Lisbeth Salander, Wonderwoman
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? Anyone who shows perseverance in life, is controversial, creative and loving
What role plays art in my life? Art is my passion and the ultimate outlet of thought processes guided by my intuition
Which movie would I recommend to see once in a lifetime? “Only Lovers Left Alive” by Jim Jarmusch
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? My kids and friends
Whom would I like to work with in 2017? I would like to collaborate with Brigitte Lauper (film maker) to put a short film about womanhood together with paintings/illustration and stop motion effects or anyone who is prepared to combine
talents to do experimental works.
Which people in my profession would I love to meet in 2017? I would love to meet Pipilotti Rist, I love her video works
What project, in 2017, am I looking forward to work on? I am currently travelling to various places in the world until September and gather impressions,
sketches and writings about my experiences, maybe they will be expressed in a separate body of work or add to the one I am working on since 5 years.
