The Heroine’s Journey of Ashlee Fazio

What is the best thing that I love about my work? I love that I get to teach people about minimalism and how simplification can improve their lives, regardless of their lifestyle. Teaching is my passion and being able to make a living doing something I love is so inspiring, especially because I get to help people change their lives for the better in the process. Does it get any better than this?

What is my idea of perfect happiness? My idea of perfect happiness is have the time and financial freedom to spend my days doing as I please. In a society of stress and chaos, being able to slow down and appreciate the present moment is the greatest gift we can give ourselves. Happiness for me also includes a lot of yoga, soccer, hiking, and laughing with friends!

What is my greatest fear? My greatest fear is not fulfilling my purpose on this Earth. Getting to the end of my days and realizing that I have not shared my passion with this world is terrifying to me. I truly believe that every has a gift to share with the world, but too many of us are scared to put ourselves out there enough to effectively share that passion. I am scared NOT to share my passion with everyone that I can.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?  I have trouble staying focused and finishing tasks. I get so distracted by other ideas and things that I want to try that I struggle to stay focused on the task at hand. I work really hard to prioritize what I need to do and have a clear vision of my goals to stay on track.

Which living persons in my profession do i most admire? I am so inspired by Mandy Lea. I love watching her adventurous journey through her beautiful photography. She has inspired me to travel more and simplify my life so that I can do so. She has encouraged me to go even TINIER than my 160 square foot so that I can pursue my greatest passion: travel.

On what occasion would I lie? I am trying really hard at this point in my life to be completely honest with the people around me. I have made it a goal to always tell the truth, regardless of how awkward or uncomfortable it may be to do. Communication is something that I struggled with for a really long time so this is my way to tackle that weakness!

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? I have accepted that there are always going to be people who do not understand my mission or my vision. It would be crazy for me to think that everyone in this world would align with my journey, however, it can still be a hard thing to overcome. Also, I am not a big fan of spending a lot of time in front of a computer screen, but that is a sacrifice I will have to take to fulfill my purpose!

When and where was I the happiest, in my work? Over the summer, I had my first speaking engagement at a Tiny House Festival in New Paltz, NY. I met so many amazing, inspiring people through that event and am so grateful to have been a part of it. Standing on stage and sharing the beauty of minimalism and simplicity felt so right to me and I would love to be able to do this for the rest of my life.

If I could, what would I change about myself? I am working towards being better at follow through. I can be kind of flaky and unorganized when I have a lot of things to juggle: I overbook myself, I procrastinate tasks, I get unfocused. This is something that I am working on changing as we speak!

What is my greatest achievement in work? I feel that my greatest achievement came from working closely with a good friend of mine to declutter her house after her mother died. We were able to clear up not just her physical space, but declutter her mental and emotional space as well.

Where would I most like to live? I would love to live in Colorado or Utah, deep in the mountains, with an incredible view.

What is my most treasured possession? My car is my most treasured possession. I have such pride in the fact that I was able to buy my first brand new car, especially because this car will be bringing me all around the country over the next few years.

What is my most marked characteristic? I have a very positive, energetic flow that I love to share with the people around me.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city? I enjoy going to Franny Reese State Park to watch the sunset, get in a quick hike, meditate, and to be alone.

What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city? Underground Coffee and Ales is the BEST place to grab a quick bite, a drink after work, or a cup of coffee to keep you going.

What books influenced my life and how? The Alchemist changed my life. Read it through once and you will understand why.

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day? Summer Hits of the 90s Radio on Pandora- I never feel a desire to skip a song on that station.

What role plays art in my life and work? I love the creative process of writing that I have discovered through starting my blog. It is so meditative when I get into a good flow of writing.

Whom would I like to work with in 2018? I would love to work with Mandy Lea in the future and maybe meet her somewhere on the open road!!

What project, in 2018, am I looking forward to work on? I am currently working one-on-one with helping people declutter the different areas of their lives in order to find greater simplicity and happiness. In 2018, I will be creating a full online course of resources in order to reach even more people. I cannot wait to be able to share this with as many people as I can!
