The Heroine’s Journey of Yulia Romanova

What is the best thing that I love about my work? That it actually doesn’t feel like work. I just do what I love all the time.
What is my idea of perfect happiness? Perfect happiness is when you are able to achieve harmony in both aspects of your life – professional (happy with job) and personal (happy with personal life)
What is my greatest fear? Beginning of another World War with a use of atomic weaponry.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? I can be very lazy sometimes. I always justify it as ‘Taking a break’. haha
Which living persons in my profession do i most admire? In all professions I admire when people who started from the bottom and manage to climb to the very top of their field. It takes a lot of effort and work. Specifically in my field (filmmaking) I admire Salma Hayek and Ashley Judd. They are amazing in their work, in addition to being  kind and compassionate human beings.
What is my greatest extravagance? Red colour! It dominates in everything I have: clothes, accessories and even homeware. I am known as Lady in Red 🙂
On what occasion would I lie? To not hurt someone’s feelings.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? That sometimes very talented people are not appreciated properly for their work.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?  I am always the happiest when I’m on the film set whether it’s producing or acting. The happiest moments were when I could do both at the same time. 
If I could, what would I change about myself?  Nothing, and not because I think I’m perfect, but because if I was different in any way I wouldn’t be at the same place in my life where I am now. I just grow and develop every day to become a better version of myself, but I don’t want to change anything on purpose, it happens by itself. 
What is my greatest achievement in work?  I am very glad that this year I managed to complete a film ‘Gender’. It is a drama about inequalities at workplace. And show a little of women’s personal world when it comes to work. But I’m sure that my greatest achievement in filmmaking is ahead.
Where would I most like to live? I love living in London, but the most perfect place for me to live would be California (somewhere seaside). I grew up in the city by the sea which has impacted me a lot.
What is my most treasured possession? Unconditional love of my parents</
What is my most marked characteristic? Passionate about everything I do; Sense of humour; very determined with my goals

What is my most inspirational location, in my city? My rooftop terrace with the views of London

What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city? Concerto cafe (eat); Gong bar (drink)

What books influenced my life and how? From early years – ‘Master and Margarita’ of Mikhail Bulgakov (made me realise that  you don’t have to be perfect to be a great, happy person). Lately – ‘Secrets of Screen Acting’ of Patrick Tucker (made me look at the other point of view of filmmaking)
Who are my favorite writers? Mikhail Bulgakov, Oscar Wilde, Alexander Pushkin
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day? Anything from my phone, always have my favourite songs uploaded there
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? Amelie (2001) – she proved that by doing just a little you can make all people in your life much happier. Plus she is very resourceful 😉
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? My dad – he’s come so far in his life from nothing and always let me choose my own ways. About heroines – I don’t have one, but I’m trying to become one for other people.
Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime? ‘Amelie’ and ‘Fight Club’ – they are very different from each other but equally great
What role plays art in my life and work? My work is Art I’d say, because I create movies (producing) and characters (acting). And I enjoy other people’s ‘art’ (movies, paintings, music). So it is a huge part of my life and I cannot function without it.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? My greatest fan is my husband. He supports me in everything no matter what. And my all time partner in crime is my bestie Nataly Demchenko. We are friends since kindergarten.
Whom would I like to work with in 2018? Salma Hayek and Reese Witherspoon
Which people in my profession would i love to meet in 2018? Both these great women mentioned above as well as many professionals that I’m looking forward to meet at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
What project, in 2018, am I looking forward to work on? I’m looking forward to work on my next project ‘#Safe Again’ (scifi thriller) and a couple of feature film projects that I will be announcing later.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me? This expression is pretty self explanatory to me! If you truly love doing something, it will never fade away.
