What is the best thing that I love about my work?
First of all, writing is reading, learning, feeding the curiosity. And then writing is creation. And this, beside family, of course, means being alive for me.
What is my idea of perfect happiness?
A good chat – which sometimes can be a good book –, an inspiring landscape, the right music and a glass of wine, they all together can help to reach the feeling of happiness.
What is my greatest fear?
I have lots of fears. To pick just one is really a hard try. In a certain way, the greatest fear is to waste time. Even if the philosophers teach us that time is just a meter of perception, we have really little time to do what we love sooner we dare to be what we already are, better it is.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?
I have little self-esteem and this gives me really bad moments, especially when I have to wait for answers.
Which living persons in my profession do I most admire?
Eka Kurniawan. I met lots of great writers, actually, but since the very first moment when I started to read Beauty is a wound I felt in love with the novel and the way the writer describes the world.
What is my greatest extravagance?
As yellow and blue “make” green, the same way three plus four make seven. For me.
On what occasion would I lie?
When I have no other choice, more precisely when I can’t shut up.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
I love technology. I truly think it can make our life easier, but at the same time the fact that everybody can have a PC at home, and so a text software, it feels like those are the tools you need to became a writer. Well, when Goethe published The sorrows of young Werther, the public loved it, and the suicides increased. Writing is a responsibility.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
During the act of writing I feel like I totally belong to the world I imagine, I feel free and powerful. Of course, I don’t feel the same way when I edit.
If I could, what would I change about myself?
I think I could live much better without the anxiety. In fact, I’m working on it, even though it’s not that easy.
What is my greatest achievement in work?
Make someone else think or adopt another prospective is the greatest achievement for me.
Where would I most like to live?
Near the nature, the woods and to that kind of wildness of the hills which can still give you the illusion of being free.
What is my most treasured possession?
The creativity. Until I have this, I have solutions.
What is my most marked characteristic?
I’m very stubborn.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city?
A café, near the bridge on the small river that crosses my little town. It gives me the feeling that borders are where you have no wish to go.
What is my favorite place to eat and drink, in my city?
The same café. The bartender does the best piadina, an Italian kind of sandwich.
What books influenced my life and how?
The unbearable lightness of being of Milan Kundera. By reading the novel I found out that time is not a straight line which moves just forward.
Who are my favorite writers?
Dostoevskj: he knows what irony means, and Kundera, Erri De Luca, Zaffon, Allende.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?
The one which gives me a good mood. I’d like to day in a good mood.
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?
Sabrina, a Kundera’s character. She taught me that being a woman is not something I chose: so no guilt and no credit.
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?
My husband. He stands me and supports me.

A beautiful mind.
What role plays art in my life and work?
Visual arts and music are just another way to describe life, world and feelings. Music makes me focus or relax. Visual arts make me get in touch with my deep feelings. Dancing makes me flow. They all help me to write.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?
At the moment, definitely my agent.
Whom would I like to work with in 2018?
I have a project in mind and it needs the help of some good friends to bring their art into it.
