The Heroine’s Journey of Kriti Sharma

What is the best thing that I love about my work? I am into filmmaking so the best thing about my work is telling a story through visual metaphor. The real magic happens between “Action” and “Cut” of a scene and that is the purest form of storytelling which is very close to my heart.

What is my idea of perfect happiness? My entire life revolves around my passion i.e. filmmaking. So I find pure bliss whenever I am involved in any kind of creative process. The adrenaline rush of creating something is like a healthy drug to me.

What is my greatest fear?  The fear of failure is my greatest fear and I am also very afraid of spiders.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?  Sometime I feel an inability to say ‘NO’, if someone asks for help. At times it doesn’t have nice consequence for me.

Which living persons in my profession do i most admire? I really admire Martin Scorsese and Alfred Hitchcock (He will live forever in my heart)

What is my greatest extravagance? I am an ambitious and workaholic person. So at times I take irrational decisions with a lot of risks to achieve my immediate goal.

On what occasion would I lie?  Usually when a lie can save a relationship from falling apart

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?  The only thing I dislike about my work is the struggle to find a producer who is willing to invest money in a film. These days’ films with great content fail to find a space in today’s cinema, as everyone wants to watch senseless entertainment with double meaning jokes and some sort of nudity.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work? – The happiest day in my work was when I had got a chance to shoot in Manila, Philippines. It was my first international shoot and I was very excited about it, especially as the crew was localities. Although there was linguistic barrier between us but still managed to shoot a pretty good film.

If I could, what would I change about myself?  I am an avid reader. But many a times I feel that I don’t know much about most of the things right now. So If I could, I would like a read and study as much as possible, just to get over the complex that “I don’t know anything”.

What is my greatest achievement in work?  When I came to this film making industry, I had no god father and people having a good professional background, always try to stop me from growing. I knew it will be an uphill battle. But after facing many challenges, I managed to setup my own film production firm- KRACTION FILMS PRODUCTION with zero capital. I didn’t have enough money to find an office space or hire someone to build my firm’s website or even do some business development. I taught myself everything and started cold calling to prospective from my rented flat only. Now 4 years later my company’s turnover is above 10 Lacs. I am really grateful to all the struggles and criticism I faced back then.

Where would I most like to live? I love mountains and love to be in a cradle of nature.

What is my most treasured possession? My family and the people who work with me.

Without their support I could not have come this far. They love me for who I am. That is my most treasured possession.

Who are my favorite writers? As an avid reader my choices of writers are pretty diverse. Judith Weston, Saadat Hasan Manto, A Pakistani writer, playwright and author born in British India, Muhammad Iqbal, a poet, philosopher, and politician in British India, Rumi, Grant Cardone to name a few.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day? My National Anthem- Jana Gana Mana.. It gives me Goosebumps and somehow a patriot in me gives a huge smile.
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? I really admire Priyanka Chopra as she is really hard working and totally give justice to her character. Another interesting thing I love about her is that she always picks strong characters and is trying to change the mindset of people. That female oriented film can do well in cinemas and it’s not that girls are reserved to the cliché- “damsel in distress waiting for her prince to rescue her.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” means to me? Passion is the fire that reminds me every moment that no matter how hard the reality is, I can get through it. I can and I have that power to achieve what no man or woman has ever desired for. When you are truly passionate about something then you can never ever ever give-up. It never let you to retire.
