What is the best thing that I love about my work?
My work offers me a very strategic position to make an active design and fashion watch, meet people and get a good hindsight. I like analyzing and trying to define an efficient political roadmap, structuring the design ecosystem.
What is my idea of perfect happiness?
It is not very original but my perfect happiness recipe is: taking care of people you love, being led by your passions at work, living around trees and staying aware of what is around you. And yes, I do practice meditation ).
What is my greatest fear?
Losing a loved one or discovering a giant spider on me.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?
I tend to be anxious.
Which living persons in my profession do i most admire?
Many good designers who made me want to promote French design. For example, Ruedi Baur, one of the greatest graphic designer specialized in public space’s signage; he strongly contributes to improve our visual city environment. Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec are the first famous designers I met, while I was working on their exhibition at the Centre Pompidou-Metz (east of France). Their poetic work changed the way you can imagine traditional interior spaces.
What is my greatest extravagance?
I love traveling alone all around the world : Usually, I book my tickets and the very first night and that’s it. Then, I enjoy the adventure of not knowing where you’re gonna sleep for the next couple of days!. I have been visiting countries this way like Poland, Italy, India, Thailand… My whole daily life is super organized: from morning till night, every single minute is planned and busy. I guess this is Parisian-life specific, but I keep controlling things all day long. Traveling alone is a perfect way to fell free and to relax ! Above all, the feeling of being lost is absolutely addictive !
On what occasion would I lie?
At work sometimes I have to deal with confidential datas, it can be an occasion to lie.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
The french government is trying to improve the digitalization of the processes in civil servant’s daily work. However, administrative arduousness still remains. That is why we have to manage every day with absurds tasks or XXth century processes.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
For the first time this year, the ministery of Culture set up a call for proposal created to help young fashion brands’ development. I set up and drove all the different steps. It was so exciting to discover a hundred of interesting and passionate projects.
If I could, what would I change about myself?
I wish I could be more spontaneous. I would love to be the kind of person who goes to the airport, buys a ticket and just leave straight away !. Actually, it is on my wish list 😉
What is my greatest achievement in work?
In my work, any achievement depends on a lot of people’s decisions or acts. My position is to regroup the best skills or political personalities to build a project, a real teamwork ! I am very proud because I contributed to help young French women to create a national fashion research network. I also helped to increase 50% the budget of the French ministery of Culture allocated to fashion and design in two years.
Where would I most like to live?
In Asia, because theses countries are changing so fast and they keep their own wonderful culture. I would particularly love to live and work in Thailand or Taiwan for examples, because their design policies are very inspiring and supported by the governments.
What is my most treasured possession?
When I started working at the French ministry of Culture, I became more involved in young creation and ethic fashion. So I started to buy clothes from young French brands, made in France or Europe in ethical conditions. Young fashion companies are very weak, even if they are helped by financial assistance from the ministery of Culture or specialized organizations. It is often a very hard work to make these brands survive and that is why their creations are more unique to me than a traditional luxury piece.
What is my most marked characteristic?
What is my most inspirational location, in my city?
I am living in the suburb of Paris, not far away from forests and natural parks. Paris is full of different surprising areas, this is why I love this city. But weekends far away from the Paris’bustle are really precious to me.
What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city?
A place named « le pavillon des canaux ». It is a house on the “canal de l’Ourcq” (east of Paris) lost in the middle of buildings. You can eat homemade cooking and drinks very tasty outside in front of the water or in all the rooms of the house : kitchen, bathroom, bedroom etc.
What books influenced my life and how?
“Méditer jour après jour” from the French author Christophe André. This book made me start meditation and changed my daily life. Then I like reading Asian or African novels, offering interesting changes of scene.
Who are my favorite writers?
I love Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a famous Nigerian writer. I read lots of her books, she made me discover the Nigerian culture, through society questions like racism, immigration, feminism and integration.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?
I met some wonderful women in my life: the kind of women that feel able of everything and who won their position because they are professional and empathic.
Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime?
Moulin Rouge, the most romantic and girly movie in the world: aesthetic and spectacular, between dream and tragedy. I recommend it especially during rainy Friday evenings.
What role plays art in my life and work?
I specialized in design and fashion, but I work in the Visual Arts department at the Ministery of Culture. Design is a multidisciplinary field and the projects I manage are always linked with contemporary art, crafts, architecture, etc.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?
My boyfriend and my sister’s team!
Whom would I like to work with in 2019?
I would like to include more designers in the project plans.
Which people in my profession would i love to meet in 2019?
I don’t know yet, I hope I will be surprised.
What project, in 2019, am I looking forward to work on?
We plan to set a French design exhibition that will occur at the Triennale of Milan, beside other countries like the UK and the famous Victoria&Albert Museum, or the USA with an MIT show. Milan is the most famous place for design, in both cultural and economical senses. We expect lots of visitors, the goal of this project is to show how French design can answer to current issues.
What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?
Passion often leads good willness and acts, I hope it never retires.
Which creative heroines should Peter invite to tell their story?
My sisters ! The eldest one is a successful Phd in cellular microbiology and the youngest raises awareness among teenagers about sexuality, men and women equality or citizenship, she works at Bois Colombes town hall (Paris’suburb).
