The Heroine’s Journey of Agnese Innocente

What is the best thing that I love about my work?

The best thing I love about working with comics and illustrations is knowing someone, somewhere, is reading or watching my works and feeling different types of emotions. Basically, it’s incredible to me that people can take time for themselves with a book and feel all kind of emotions, traveling with imagination or relieving memories.

What is my idea of perfect happiness?

The thing that fits the most my idea of perfect happiness is working for a publisher that doesn’t limit my ideas, even if they’re a little excessive or different from what I usually do. Oh, and eat all I want without gaining weight 🙂

What is my greatest fear?

I’m terrified of failing to reach out the goals I set to myself, and not be able to overcome my limits in every aspect of my life. I don’t want to lose the focus on myself, never. Also, maybe you’ll think it’s superfluous, but I’m afraid of death.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?

I seem to be a strong person from the outside, but I’m not. I’m really fragile and sensitive, and it’s easy to let me down.

Which living persons in my profession do i most admire?

Although I have a lot of artists I follow as inspirations (primarily all my teachers of the comic school I attended) I think that Zerocalcare is the one I admire the most. I love his work and how his own ideas, art style and genuinity took him at the point he’s now.

What is my greatest extravagance?

Uhm, can you consider extravagance all the ways I use to act? I’m a drama queen, ahaha

On what occasion would I lie?

I have a problem with people that lie and hide things, so I don’t lie. I do it only if I know that the lie wouldn’t hurt anyone I love.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

I talk in a concrete way and I can say, as a freelancer, that I’m always anxious to find another project to work on immediately after I finish the one I’m currently working on.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?

I don’t think I have a specific moment, but I feel happy every time I reach out a deadline and, looking at the result, I know that experience helped me to grow up as an artist and as a person.

If I could, what would I change about myself?

Basically, from what I said before: sometimes I would like to be less sensitive and less anxious in order to have the situation under control.

What is my greatest achievement in work?

Last year I worked on a comic book project for an important publisher in America. I was called for a trial month, and then chosen. I really couldn’t believe it.

Where would I most like to live?

At the moment I can’t say where I most like to live, but I certainly want to travel and visit places around the world I’ve never been yet (Africa, Jordan, parts of Japan I’ve not visited, Island and Russia are some of them).

What is my most treasured possession?

All the photos of my childhood.

What is my most marked characteristic?

I’m the type of person that makes everyone laugh and tells a lot of stories but express the real self only with very few people.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city?

In my city, there’s a beautiful square named Piazza d’Armi, full of green, near the library and the Academy of Fine Arts. When I was in high school I used to go there with my friends, eat lunch, draw or read and lie down on the grass.

What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city?

It’s not in my city but 20 minutes far, in Sarzana: a beautiful baroque tea room named “Melissa Tea Room and Cakes” in which, as the name says, you can drink all kinds of tea and eat tasty cakes. Red velvet cupcakes are my favorites. It’s a super relaxing place.

What books influenced my life and how?

I cannot focus on one book only, but all the romantic/thriller/horror scenario of late 1800 always gave and give me emotions I can’t describe. I’m in love with the suffocating but also exciting atmosphere you can breathe in it.

Who are my favorite writers?

Pirandello, Lovecraft, Poe, Oscar Wilde, Guy de Maupassant are some of my favorites.

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?

All the people who fight and make it through the day despite their problems and all the people who devote their knowledge and strength to help other people and the Earth. They’re my heroes.

In the first half of the year will be released the comic book I’ve been working on the last month, but there are three other books I can’t say anything about yet! Sorry!

It means that, hopefully, I’ll be a comic artist and an illustrator all my life long 🙂

Which creative heroines should Peter invite to tell their story?

Absolutely Elisa 2B, Rosalia RaRo Radosti, Ariel Vittori, Laura Guglielmo and Alessia Iannetti. I think they’ll have interesting things to say.
