The Heroine’s Journey of Marina Andrejeva

What is the best thing that I love about my work? I create my own world and sell my own way of life, sounds pathetic, but that’s exactly how I earn my living. I was thinking a lot what to define as work and what as an addiction – I am an interior designer, an artist if you wish, and I restore old abandoned houses. These task can not be separated from one another and sometimes bring me joy of creation and sometimes bring money,the fact that can not be underestimated.

What is my greatest fear?  My greatest fear is dealing with authorities, bureaucracy and total control.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?  Perhaps, learning to say solid “No” would be an asset to me and it also seems to me should I be smarter  I would get things done more quickly. But that’s hard to change.

What is my greatest extravagance?  My way of life. I have not watched TV for the last 20 years, try not to buy food and clothes in the stores, only directly from farmers and designers. I buy abandoned farms and attribute them new new names, so the place on the map of Latgale where I currently reside is called Marina.

On what occasion would I lie?  Quiet frequently, especially when I make stories about myself, but i quickly notice it myself when I surpass  the border between truth and reality.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?  I hate working just for money when I do not like the person who made an order

When and where was I the happiest, in my work? On the whole I am quite happy with my occupation and no matter how banal it sounds when I drink wine with a happy client on the completed premise I often feel something like it.

If I could, what would I change about myself? As I mentioned already I would be more disciplined and approximately half fitter 🙂

What is my greatest achievement in work? For almost 40 years of my creative life I have managed to build a lot for my clients, generally Russian and Latvian VIPs. But i think my real success still ahead.It s my secret .

Where would I most like to live? In Latgale on Marina farm with a view on Ochu lake.
This is a most beautiful and anygmatik place i know. People left the country long time ago just few strange farmers livng there me and wolfs  🙂

What is my most treasured possession? Looks like it is me, the rest of the projects seem less profitable  🙂

What is my most marked characteristic? Beautiful charismatic talented and extremely modest:)

What is my most inspirational location, in my city? Jurmala,  a spa resort on the Baltic bay

What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city? Sometimes I am lucky with men who cook so well that I can enjoy the private cook

What books influenced my life and how? Winnie-the-Pooh in Zahoder’s translation

Who are my favorite writers? Evelyn Waugh, Heller,Pelevin, Valery Popov

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day? Boris Grebenshchikov, Prata Vetra, Wagner, Beethoven and also my favorite song about Valenki

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? Certainly, Winnie-the-Pooh

Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime? Hotel Budapesht .  By  Anderson

What role plays art in my life and work?Art is a part of my lifestyle and the essence of it, and by all means I try to share  in the space  I create. My interior design is implicitly connected in colour with my painting and there is always space for unexpected items.
My dream is to create the space which is initially planned as  if non-fuctional,  but abstract plan where a person exists. Ha-ha, I have not found such a customer yet.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? My friends

Whom would I like to work with in 2019?  I do not know such person yet but think to find a partner for my idea ArtVillage development. I currently reconstruct 2 historical manors in a fairytale surroundings in Latgale one lakes.I plan to develop this project into a community for artists and artisans to work and create.

Which people in my profession would i love to meet in 2019? I would like to meet my Internet friends from Facebook in real life and try to involve them in my plays.

What project, in 2019, am I looking forward to work on? Hope I would have an opportunity to concentrate on ArtVillage project – art workshops on lakes in the abandoned land and I currently work on Internet Shop connected with this project.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me? :)I live in the country where relying on retirement plan is naive. 🙂 So in my case  my passion has no other plan than to stay forever young’ The world around me changed so many times dramatically and every time I felt I am at the very beginning and so I am feeling right now
