What is the best thing that I love about my work?

I work with the unpredictable: instruments, materials and colors are always intertwined in a different way and the feeling of wonder that I experience every time is the best thing about my work.

Perfect happiness is when you can share with others your interior world.

I am too hard on myself. I am too demanding, excessively self-critical and perfectionist…

Marina Flor, Massimo Polello and many others who shuffles their capabilities to create every time something new.

What is my greatest extravagance?

The attraction to yellow color.

On what occasion would I lie?

If the truth is more dangerous than fiction.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

The waiting: mind often travels faster than the means I use.

When and where did I get happy, in my work?

At my first solo show in Rome, entitled “Grafismi Pittorici”, but I am really  enthusiastic every time I share the study of calligraphy and graphic design with my students.

If I could, what would I change about myself?

I would change my laziness, I would like to do many other things.

What is my greatest achievement in work?

The publication of my book on typographic design.

Where would I most like to live?

Here in Rome, where I live: I think it is still the most beautiful city, source of artistic and typographic inspiration for excellence. The sun that shines in Rome, is unlike any other sun of other places.

What is my most treasured possession?

The sunlight. Without the sun, I could afford to stop like an ice statue.

What is my most marked characteristic?

Deep black eyes, like ink stains of calligraphy exercises.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city?

Every place where you can find traces of antiquity and the ancient beauty is revealed

What is my favourite place to eat and drink in my city?

A trattoria in the center of Rome among the lighted streets and the green of the ivy, that becomes of an emerald color.

What books influenced my life and how?

The book that I liked the most is “The Crystal Goblet” by Beatrice Warde, which describes fragility and the beauty of invisible typography: parts of a culture related to the care of small detail, that is as important as the overall vision.

Jonathan Safran Foer, Carlos Ruiz Zafón, Robert Bringhust…

You only die once. What music would I listen on my last day?

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?

Catwoman, Diabolik, Doctor Who.

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?

I am immediately reminded of the artist Vincent Van Gogh, who had the courage to watch the stars, allowing himself to be led by them, to win his own nothing.

Which movie would I recommend to see once in a lifetime?

Mrs. Doubtfire.

What role plays art in my life and work?

It’s my life itself. It is present in everything I do, from setting the table every day, until it becomes my own job: art is taking care of things and releasing its value.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?

My husband: with his irony and his immense patience, is the most important sponsor of my work.

Whom would I like to work with in 2019?

With the MUCIV (Museum of ancient civilizations) of Rome, with Sandro Tiberi last Cartaio di Fabriano and Andi (National Association of Doc Italy)

Which people in my profession would i love to meet in 2019?

The Artist Rocco Iannelli and the whole group of “Arte a Corte”. All the talented artists of my city, to share experiences and interests.

What project, in 2019, am I looking forward to work on?

An international collaboration with Monica Langwe, a friend and colleague, for the first time together to experiment and teach the art of binding and calligraphy.
