The Heroine’s Journey of Salomé Milet

What is the best thing that I love about my work?

The best thing to me is to meet new people with ideas! And not only in the creative fields. As a Graphic designer, I spend my time meeting people that have great projects they want to show to the world. I have the opportunity to help them, becoming a companion on their great adventure, and leading them in a graphic identity that display their values and culture.

What is my idea of perfect happiness?

To me there is no « ideal of happiness ». I try to live my life seeing happiness in everything and being as positive and open minded as I can be. The thing is that when something « negative » happens, I try to see how it could help me grow, to see if there is any positive outcomes to it. So happiness can be find in every little thing to me, you just have to look for it! But let’s say sunny weather helps 😉

What is my greatest fear?

Well it may sounds weird, but definitely die under a frozen lake. I’ve no idea why but this scares me real bad!

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?

The fact that I do everything really quickly. It doesn’t mean I do them badly, but it’s just that sometime, when doing things I love, I don’t really take the time to appreciate it. I’m working on this though!

Which living persons in my profession do I most admire?

I would say Pierre Matras. He was my teacher at school and he had a big impact on who I am now, creatively speaking.

What is my greatest extravagance?

I’d say travels. I don’t have loads of money, but every time I save a penny, everything end up in travels! I just love to discover new places and cultures and I really hope I’ll be able to see the world!

On what occasion would I lie?

That’s a hard one. I’d say, in order not hurting someone probably?

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

My choice of colors in design! That’s my weakness I’d say but I see much improvement so, that is pretty great!

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?

Right now? I started working as an entrepreneur since a little lest than 2 years now, and seeing things evolving really is amazing. It’s hella hard but I’m happy and I hope it’ll keep growing!

If I could, what would I change about myself?

Not to brag or anything but I’d like to say nothing. There are things that I don’t like in myself, on different aspects, but I’m learning to live with them and to understand that these « flaws » made me who I am today. Perfection doesn’t exist so why trying to be?

What is my greatest achievement in work?

Working on a fabulous project for Linkedin. I’ve been working with an Irish company on LinkedIn’s environmental designs in different countries and this has been such a journey! By far my favorite achievement, to see the results of this amazing project was incredible!

Probably somewhere sunny. I just love the sun and would love to live in the south of France or in Portugal, and maybe Greece too. A mix of these three!

What is my most inspirational location, in my city?

I would say the docks in Lyon. It’s often crowded, there’s always so many different people there and I love to see how everyone can meet there and just chill on a warm evening. It’s truly a meeting point in this city, and it’s amazing to see how it can be as quiet as busy. I just love the contrast you can see there when going at different time.

What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city?

Well… it changes quiet often but today I would say Piada. It’s a small italian fast food selling piadine. First thing is that the food is amazing, so simple but yet so effective! And then: the amazing interior design work that has been made for this place; the colors, the materials… everything is so on point and you just want to eat there every day!

What books influenced my life and how?

The one I’m reading now: How to be a Badass – Jen Sincero. It’s all about learning to trust your potential and just go for what you want and do what you love. Stop worrying constantly about things and people, just live at your fullest potential! That a thing I’m rooting for.

Who are my favorite writers?

I really have no idea. I’m not a huge book reader (even if I truly wish I was) and the few books I read, I often forget the writer (shame on me!).

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?

Depending on my mood haha I would probably say Bon Iver if I want it to be peaceful and smooth. And probably Ariane Grande and 70’s american music for an epic exit!

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?

I would say Pocahontas because her character has no fear of the unknown and is so open to what the world can give her. I also love powerful women roles like Leia Organa, Tomb Raider, all the women figures depicted in the movie Black Panther, etc. You know, women that show that we can be badass!

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?

I would say Emma Watson. She always did so much things for women and still do. She’s also shining a light on ecology and I think that she’s using her fame the right way!  I would also say Greta Thunberg because I am so amazed by what she’s doing as such a young age. Proof that we can start things young!

Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime?

Well, almost all the Disney movies for the fun, the Lord of the Rings trilogy for epic times, and Captain Fantastic for the beautiful meaning of it.

What role plays art in my life and work?

A big one! I studied for 5 years and a half in an art and design school. I love drawings since I’m a child and I now do illustrations in my design work when I think it can properly fit a project. I’m also constantly inspired by different design aspects: architecture, colors, furniture, interiors…

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?

My greatest fan would be my boyfriend Robin. He’s constantly cheering on my designs and I think it’s genuine. My partners in crime are Manon, who’s working with me on design projects, and Marie who’s working with me on events we create. They are both a major part of my overall work since I started.

Whom would I like to work with in 2019?

Basically everyone! I love to meet people and creating new synergies and projects!

Which people in my profession would i love to meet in 2019?

I’d like to say Wes Anderson. Even if he’s not a graphic designer, I think he has such a graphic vision of things and I just love it. I would also love to meet the interior designers from the spanish agency Masquespacio! They are doing amazing projects and it would be the best thing to meet them!

What project, in 2019, am I looking forward to work on?

Every project really! They’re so different but so exciting on different levels that I can’t really pick one!

Well to me, something you really love is something you could do without any money goals. It’s something you do out of love and in that sense, you could basically do it for your entire life. It’s fuel for the soul!

Which creative heroines should Peter invite to tell their story?

I love Melanie Johnson’s work, she’s an illustrator that I really like, and Ana Hernandez from Masquespacio agency.
