What is the best thing that I love about my work?
The people I work with. They all have a different story, a different background. The variety of people and capturing their emotion with my camera.
What is my idea of perfect happiness?
I don’t believe in perfect happiness. There might be an imperfect happiness in the people I love and sharing food and tell stories with them. Just being creative, laughing with people I love makes me happy.
What is my greatest fear?
That one of my relatives or friends dies. I used to be afraid of mouses but when I got them in my own house I experienced some kind of true exposure therapy which has made me less afraid of them.
What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?
That I am messy and chaotic. Also when I write an article there are always spelling mistakes, even after 20 check ups. I am more a visual person.
I recently learned that chaotic isn’t a bad thing but I was insecure about it for years. When I got a camera and start shooting I noticed that my chaotic trait actually was a good thing. I was more flexible in changing perceptions and positions with my camera. I also was more creative and adapting to the atmosphere of a scene.

What is my greatest extravagance?
My most admired extravagance in photography is the natural light I use and the posing. People told me.
On what occasion would I lie?
When I can safe someone’s life when I lie. When the gestapo would be on my doorstep.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?
The administration and always have to find new projects. Sometimes the client can be very complicated.
When and where was I the happiest, in my work?
When I was shooting my sister for some black and white photography. I also had some great happy moments with some clients who also have become friends of mine. But shooting the ones you love is always the best thing in life!
If I could, what would I change about myself?
Being more structured and also sometimes I can be a bit difficult. I would love to let things go a bit more.
What is my greatest achievement in work?
That I am becoming a photographer who made a passion into a career. I am doing this for 6 months and I still cannot believe what I have accomplished so far. Still I am not there yet.
Where would I most like to live?
Just here in Rotterdam. I do like to live in Bali and the travel through South of America while I explore other cultures, people and photograph them. But in the end I like to come home to my family and friends.
What is my most treasured possession?
The possession which has no worth of anything. The cuddle I had when I was a child. If there would be a fire in my house that will be the first thing I would get. It’s probably cost € 10,- at the time.
Also important photographs are treasured possessions of me.
What is my most marked characteristic?
That I am direct and honest. I also hear people say that I am sincere. A less positive characteristic probably is impatience.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city?
The park where I run in the summer, barbeque with friends and just walk around to get my head quiet and free from stress.
What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city?
I don’t have a particular place. But a restaurant I go quite often is ‘Curr’ys’. Since I was a little girl my father brought me there and we have known the owners for years.
What books influenced my life and how?
A book which had a remarkable effect on my way of thinking and believing is the book ‘Sapiens’ of Yuval Noah Harari and a book about Buddhism. I am not a Buddhist myself but I have some life qualities developed from this philosophy.

I am a true lover of great art. I have studied it for a while and I love to own an artwork myself one day. Also to make a great investment. I go to a lot of art expositions and discuss them with friends.

A big shoot for a company. Cannot tell a lot about this right know. But I am interested in the results and steps around this big project. In how it would help me get further.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?
Photography is my life. I would never stop photographing which actually means I would never retire. I don’t believe in retirement. One of the smartest and wised people ever lived never retired.
