The Heroine’s Journey of Solange Freyre

What is the best thing that I love about my work? Freedom and creativity, and the fact that I can feel like a child most of the time. I don’t like the weight of adulthood.
What is my idea of perfect happiness? I´m a very nonconformist person, may be this is my worst defect. So I don’t have an idea of perfect happiness, though I feel really happy, free, complete when I’m performing on stage. But not anything, but something I really want to tell and share. Something I can transit.

What is my greatest fear? My greatest fear is to pass through life with the feeling I did not fulfilled all I desired and expected to create and express. What is the trait that I most deplore in myself? Noncomformity and a really high demand on myself.
Which living persons in my profession do i most admire? Barbra, Liza, Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Lady Gaga, and soooooo on!!!
What is my greatest extravagance? I don’t think I’m very extravagant, I care a lot about healthy food, eating healthy, keeping fit, practicing hypopressive gym instead of abdominals, hahah, and I always need to be creative.
On what occasion would I lie? I’m a terrible lier. May be I´d lie to protect a son, but I´d rather not.
What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work? Once I understood ART and WORK were not the same thing, I could separate things and not suffer so much. Sometimes you sing, act and or dance for money, sometimes its because you love the project. Sometimes the project allows you to be creative, to print yourself into the character, sometimes you’re just part of a big machine, and it can become perverse
and really frustrating. When money is the motivation, something will go wrong soon. That’s why I’m obsessed with generating passive income! To be a free artist!
When and where was I the happiest, in my work? Many times, specially when I created my own shows, I dreamed of them so many times, visualized them, and then, BOOM! They are there! After a lot of effort, hard work and persistence, of course.

If I could, what would I change about myself? I would relax more and trust more in the Universe. I sometimes think I push too hard.
What is my greatest achievement in work? To grow, to set a goal and do it, to set higher and higher goals. Become a better person, and artist, communicate, help others through my art.
Where would I most like to live? I still don’t know, I haven’t found my place yet.
What is my most treasured possession? My treasure are my kids, but I don’t own them. Possessions?… They can all be replaced. I have no expensive things, and I’m feeling lately a great need to give half of my stuff out. Simplify life.
What is my most marked characteristic? A great sense of justice and a lot of strong will.
What is my most inspirational location, in my city? I love my town, I should go more often, it´s called San Lorenzo de El Escorial, 50 km from Madrid, and it has an amazing XVI century monastery. But I’m originally from Buenos Aires and it has a more powerful beat, no doubt. Same as NYC.
What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city? Faborit. It has salads you can create and green juices.

What books influenced my life and how? Lots. Specially Napoleon Hill, Think and grow rich.
Who are my favorite writers? Lots. García Marques, Edgar Allan Poe… Love poetry by
Benedetti… But I’m a very chaotic reader, I can jump from one thing to another in a glimpse.
You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day? Piazzolla. Beethoven. And jazz standards.
Who is my hero or heroine in fiction? Wonder Woman 😉
Who are my heroes and heroines in real life? Every day fighters, common human beings, like me, that keep on dreaming, trying, doing, loving, …
Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime? I love Forrest Gump and Dead Poets society and… The Hours… and Revolutionary Road.
What role plays art in my life and work? Art is in everything. Sometimes I forget and become dull for a while, specially when I’m absorbed by daily tasks. I get mad and go back to art asap.
Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime? My family, and my amazing friend, Charly.
Whom would I like to work with in 2019/2020? Almodovar! Let’s dream big! And also… Hugh Jackman. He is amazing.
Which people in my profession would i love to meet in 2019/2020? Everyone, and anyone who has a deep side, not just an ego side, I’m tired of facades.
What project, in 2019/2020, am I looking forward to work on? Movies! I´d love to get in movies! And may be do an LP, but a happy one, pop, ballads.
Where can you see me or my work in 2019/2020? My solo show opens in OFF LATINA theatre in Madrid on September 25.
What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me? Everything. My daily nourishment.
Which creative heroines should Peter invite to tell their story? Performing arts sometimes are more easily seen than painting or sculpting. Maybe this kind of artist.
