That is the best thing that I love about my work?

I really enjoy creating material things. It’s a great magic the way digital signs become books and board games.

What is my idea of perfect happiness?

It’s a balance between private life, work and responsibilities to other people.

What is my greatest fear?

I am afraid of losing my job, losing my usefulness to society and family.

What is the trait that I most deplore in myself?

I intend to do something for a very long time. I often doubt the right choice and double-check everything. I should be more spontaneous.

Which living persons in my profession do i most admire?

I’m just crazy about Steaven Simpson’s works. He is an example of tremendous and frenzied imagination.

What is my greatest extravagance?

I don’t take up projects if my intuition tells me:No! Stop! Nothing good will come of it!” Conversely, I can support even the strangest startup.

On what occasion would I lie?

If it saves someone’s life. But I prefer to tell the truth, even if it is not very pleasant.

What is the thing that I dislike the most in my work?

It’s hard for me to maintain integrity and simplicity of work. I always want to do the details. But every artist knows that whole works will look much more professional.

When and where was I the happiest, in my work?

In 2012 when I was just starting to illustrate books. I enjoyed every project. Each book was a little adventure and a journey inward. I was really immersed in what I was doing and it was not about commerce, but love and self-expression.

If I could, what would I change about myself?

I would like to become less nervous and worry less about all the events in my life. Illustrator must be pachyderms to withstand the cruel and unpredictable world of our industry.

What is my greatest achievement in work?

I believe that all the main achievements in the work are yet to come. I’m still a child by the standards of the modern world, so I can afford several years of trial and experimentation. But I am extremely proud of the fact that I have freelancing and I have been my own boss for 7 years constantly growing as an illustrator and business woman, capable of managing her financial affairs herself.

Where would I most like to live?

My favorite country, besides my native one, is Germany. I have been there many times and every trip opens me something new and unique in this wonderful country. The Germans are very close to me in mentality, they are hardworking, persistent and honest. They love to work and feel comfortable only benefiting and doing something real and useful.

What is my most treasured possession?

My treasures are my children. But they do not belong to me. And if we talk about the things that I will be the first to take out of the burning house, they are few. This is a red hat that I have been wearing for 25 years) and an easel made by my respected grandfather. These objects are infinitely dear to me; they are symbols of my life.

What is my most marked characteristic?

It’s hard to characterize myself, but I will try to do it impartially and honestly. As my star sign is the Taurus, I have the character of a bull. The bull is steadily moving forward; he is ready to work hard to achieve the goal. But the Bull is very slow and while everyone is running, he will choose the target for a very long time.

What is my most inspirational location, in my city?

Most of all I am inspired by a small cozy coffee shop near my house. I love coming there, chatting with the barista, and always leave in a good mood. Such simple places are our places of power in my native city.

What is my favourite place to eat and drink, in my city?

I prefer to eat outdoors in the city center. The most beautiful and aesthetic place to eat in Minsk is the Upper Town. Even if you eat a simple sandvia and look at the brick walls of old houses, churches and roofs, the food seems simply delicious.

What books influenced my life and how?

I was very influenced by the fantastic books I read as a child: Michael Moorcock, Katherine Kurtz. They gave a kick to the development of my imagination

Who are my favorite writers?

I really love the books of David Mitchell, Katherine Kurtz, the early things of Stephen King, Dmitry Glukhovsky and Chuck Palahniuk.

You Only Die Once. What music would I listen on my last day?

I listened to the Kansas group as a child. The song “Dust in the Wind” is perfect for parting with this brand. Noah, I think that I will be too busy on my last day on earth to remember putting on a music track.

Who is my hero or heroine in fiction?

It’s hard to say, I do not single out individual characters in books. I just calmly follow their life stories. But some characters are so alive that it’s impossible to forget them. As a child, I was impressed by Alaric Morgan from The Chronicles of Deryni. I often think what he would do in a complicated situation.

Who are my heroes and heroines in real life?

In my opinion, the real heroes are those people who can successfully combine family and work, not lose touch with their children and run a successful business at the same time.

Which movie would i recommend to see once in a lifetime?

I was impressed by the “Queer as a folk” movie. This is an unusually wise comedy that can be parsed into quotes.

What role plays art in my life and work?

I’m zoning my life a bit. the zone of art and work stands apart. But Drawing is my only powerful source of income. This is what defines me in the eyes of other people.

Who is my greatest fan, sponsor, partner in crime?

My son and husband are my fans and my rear. They know exactly when to scold me, and when to support me and they are very lively and sociable and always give feedback when I show them new projects. They are the best critics.

Whom would I like to work with in 2019/2020?

I would like to work with companies producing board games and toys next year, as well as take part in projects with VR. I would like to continue working with children’s publishers.

Which people in my profession would i love to meet in 2019/2020?

My dream is to collaborate with Djeco. I love their style and ideas.

What project, in 2019/2020, am I looking forward to work on?

For 2020 I am planning to take part in animation projects, performances decorations production, children’s books and everything that my fishing rod would catch.

What do the words “Passion Never Retires” mean to me?

I rarely call my connection with illustration passion. Rather, it is a strong family bond. There may be quarrels, there may be difficulties, but this is not something that can be easily abandoned, because the fire still burns inside you.

Which creative heroines should Peter invite to tell their story? 

I would like to recommend a person whom I know closely and who does a very useful job. This is a creative and strong girl who is fighting to make it easy for women in Belarus to do what they love and earn money / Her name is Yulia Malkova
